Etimologii încă nu știu exact de unde vine queer. Iar eu, și dacă ar ști, tot m-aș juca obraznic. Ca orice înger.
La Wycliffe, Psalmul 150:4 sună astfel: Herie ye hym in a tympane and queer; herie ye hym in strengis and orgun. Queer e corul / hora din LXX. Lancelot Andrewes, editorul de facto al KJV, comenta într-o predică Luca 2:12-14: Will yee now, to this inglorious Signe, heare a glorious Song; to this cratch of humilitie, a hymne of celestiall harmonie? If the Signe mislike you, ye cannot but like the Song, and the Queer that sing it. Creșa umilă a Încarnării ți se pare prea queer? Mai este si radacina indo europeana a termenului queer.Este posibil ca termenul sa aiba radacina in normanda lui William the Conquerer sau celto-latina vorbita in Britania Romana ,inainte de invazia normanda .La fel de bine poate origina si in limbile germanice:
